In shopping and fashion nothing is what it seems. Some taller women having larger bone structures try to dress in such a way that they would appear smaller. Thin and slender women want to create the appearance of curves with their clothes, while curvier women put efforts into hiding their voluptuousness. These women who are considered "petite" will frequently attempt to wear clothes that would make them look taller.
There is one common misconception that "petite" means "small". The truth is that the term petite refers to height, not weight. Petite fashions come in sizes from O to plus-sized. Women who are shorter than 5'4 are considered petite no matter if she has a slender, average or plus-sized frame.
The conception that petite women are always "little" has caused frustration for the ladies when shopping. Women not taller than 5'5 have a difficult time finding petite fashions that are not high-wasted. Despite that, recently many designers started creating petite fashion lines offering new styles for the petite ladies. Now most of the designers offer petite fashions and they try to make them more classic and tailored, so petite women would wear clothes that accentuate the good sides of their body type.
Petite woman want to find the clothes that would accentuate their own style. Some fashions are designed in such a way that they make petite woman look taller by using horizontal as opposed to vertical lines. Monochromatic colour schemes are also a good idea.
When buying clothes a petite woman should avoid cuts, color schemes and prints that are made for taller women. Petite fashions often have higher wastes, shorter arms and legs and narrower shoulders. When print patters are used in petite fashions they tend to be smaller. This is how chunky appearance is avoided.
Petite women are advised to keep up to some simple style guidelines. According to fashion experts on petite fashions, women are not to wear shirt longer than mid-thigh and they should forget about drastic colour contrasts in blouses and trousers. As far as shoes are concerned, petite women are not advised to buy flat shoes or shoes with square toes. What is best for their feet is a pair of comfortable stylish shoes with gently pointed toe. Other things that should not be in a petite's woman wardrobe are ribbons and buckles.

Women's Business Fashion -7 Ways to Liven Up a Basic Black Wardrobe
By Lynda Goldman
Women, basic black is a wonderful start to your business wardrobe. Once you buy basic black pants, skirts and jackets, it simplifies your wardrobe. It doesn't require much thought to grab something from your wardrobe in the morning, and no one knows for sure if you are wearing the same items over and over again.
But when you want a bit of a lift, and want to avoid looking like you are headed to a funeral, you'll want to break up the monotony and add a spark of color to cheer you up.
Here are 7 ways to liven up your basic black professional wardrobe.
1. Add the panache of metallics, which are so big right now. Loop a chunky gold or silver chain around your neck, or slip a large bangle on your wrist.
2. Throw an animal print scarf around your neck, or buckle an animal-print belt around your waist.
3. Add a pop of color with a red or yellow patent handbag, or a patent belt.
4. Add a bit of texture, like a nubby wool sweater, or a great tweed jacket, to your basic black dress or sweater and pants.
5. Wear your favorite color shirt or sweater with your black jacket. A splash of red or pink under your jacket does wonders to liven up your complexion and make you glow.
6. Wear a choker of pearls or colored beads to add interest to a low neckline. Play with the color and design of chucky jewelry to add a unique accent to your outfit.
7. Test a color you wouldn't normally wear, in a small dose. Taxi yellow or lime green are fun to wear in limited doses.

Evening Shawls - Your Fashion Emergency Insurance
By Meryl Rougeaux
Most of us have run into a fashion emergency at one time or another. You know the type-you receive an invitation to a formal dinner party that's two weeks away. There you stand, scanning your memory for something, anything that might be dangling in the dark recesses of your closet. There's always that standard black dress that has kept the back of your closet company for the past three years; the one that always serves as backup in these fashionably desperate situations. But, it's late summer and black is boring. Bright colors are a natural, necessary complement to the cheerful evening ahead. Thankfully, this is where the most versatile accessory comes in to save your day-evening shawls!
From what you can remember, that little black dress has a gorgeous scooped back and a not-so humble front cut. The style will surely create a few admirers; but it won't be practical on a cool and breezy summer evening. In a pinch, that cream-colored cardigan you wore last winter could be tossed over the dress for added warmth. But, do you really want to cover that little black number up with anything that could be suspected of being a cold-weather emergency blanket?
It's time to splurge. Go to Fashion Scarvesand Shawls online, and discover what beckons for your immediate attention? Some of the most gorgeous colors tempt you. You've discovered a true fashion playground! You have choices upon choices, each more tempting than the other.

Jazzing up the black dress will be easy with all the pattern choices lying before you. Flowing from the pages are pashmina, silk and cashmere shawls with multihued glitz, eclectic block prints, and elegant embroidered designs. All attract a favorable harmony with your spirit.

Everyday Fashion Mistakes to Avoid
By Paul Jones
Everyone knows the fashion world is constantly changing and this can only mean that the list of fashion mistakes is constantly changing as well. If you are interested in avoiding fashion faux pas this year, check out this helpful checklist below to make sure you are wearing only the hottest styles and avoiding the styles that have died out.
Luckily, see-through tops and bottoms are definitely out for 2008. Although many people say that less is more, this style has quickly gone from stylish and sexy to tacky and distasteful in no time at all. If you have any see-through tops or bottoms in your wardrobe today, throw them out immediately!
Many people make this mistake and that is wearing jeans or bottoms of any kind that are far too tight creating a belly bulge that is unnecessary. Whether you are thin or bigger, wearing pants or bottoms that are too small for you is not stylish, it is one of the biggest fashion mistakes of the century. Accepting your own size and wearing what fits you properly is the style of 2008.
Do you find that your pants are so long that the hems are constantly getting stuck on the bottom of your shoes? There is nothing stylish about this; in fact you are simply ruining your pants. By having your pants hemmed properly you can still have the longer length but make sure they are not catching on your shoes and dragging needlessly on the ground.
Sweaters and layering is a very popular look this year but it can become tricky if you are trying to layer up and you have a small winter coat to squeeze all those layers into! Make sure your coat has wide enough arms to support your stylish layered look or you will find yourself quite uncomfortable.
Please don't wear tops that are stained with your underarm sweat. If you have a shirt that is stained, consider throwing it away or wearing it only for working around the house.
Panty lines have always been a major fashion blunder, and today they still are. Consider what your under garments look like and throw out the ones that have seen to many fashion eras!
If you choose to wear a slip under your dress or skirts, make sure you buy something of high quality so you never have to worry about your slip showing at any point during the evening.
Wearing white panty hose with a black pencil skirt is an obvious mistake! Always make sure that your panty hose match the hem of your skirt and your shoes to avoid this common fashion mistake.
If you color your hair, it is important to keep up with the treatments because showing your roots is also a very common fashion faux pas.
These are the top and most popular fashion mistakes that men and women experience on a daily basis. Even the most highly fashionable and stylish person can display a fashion blunder from time to time, its okay! It is important to be aware that although fashion is a large part of our society today, it is not the end of the world if you find yourself with your roots showing, a run in your panty hose that don't really match your outfit and a slip that just will not stay in place! Everyone has days like this, as long as you are aware of these problems you have the ability to correct them. It can be hard to keep up with today's fashions but the key is if you feel uncomfortable in your outfit, something is not right.

5 Fashion Crimes You May Be Committing
By Jennifer Wasilewski
Fashion is largely a personal adventure where the individual seeks to portray their personality through clothing and accessories. There is no clear cut right or wrong way to dress and no set of golden rules to guide our wardrobe choices. However, there are a few mistakes that we seem to make on a regular basis. Here are 5 fashion crimes you may be guilty of committing.
Dressing to Young for Your Age
While fashion isn't always age discriminate there are an abundance of trends that are aimed at the twenty to thirty something demographic. Women above that demographic often run the risk of dressing to young for their own good. While there is no need to fill your closet with elastic waist bands and goofy sweaters upon your thirtieth birthday, you should practice caution when it comes to trends. If you feel something may be too young for you, you're probably right. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to look young with out cashing in on every runway trend.
Buying Cheap to Save Money
We all like to save a little money when possible. Buying quality goods on clearance is a great way to do that. Unfortunately, buying clothing that is generally just cheaper isn't always the right way to go. More often than not, when it comes to clothing, you get what you pay for. Cheaper clothing often tears, rips, wears out, or doesn't make it through the washer. Replacing items that couldn't take the stress of daily life can end up costing you a lot more in the long run. If you are looking to purchase a clothing item you wear regularly, spend a little extra or wait for the higher quality items to go on sale.
Going to Extremes
Every now and then you want to change up your style and put a little excitement in your closet. It's great to try different things but do so slowly. Investing in the latest trends all at once will not only cost you major bucks but can look a little tacky if not ridiculous. Update your wardrobe in small doses. This will give you time to introduce new trends into your wardrobe and find out which ones work best for you.
Neglecting Your Style for the Latest Trend
Fashion is an expression of the self. You should choose clothing that suits your personality and way of life. That said, not every trend is meant for every woman. Don't wear something just because it is "in." Invest in clothing that makes you comfortable and brings out your personality. Buying clothing just because it's trendy isn't good for you or your wallet. You will either be uncomfortable while donning your new digs or they will remain unused collecting dust in your closet.
Getting into a Fashion Rut
It's okay to know you're own personal style and to buy your clothing accordingly. Unfortunately, many women fall victim to fashion monotony and never explore outside the realm of their own unchanging closet. Every now and then change things up a bit by adding a article of clothing you normally wouldn't buy. It doesn't have to be outlandish or ultra trendy, just a little bit different from the norm.

Designer Label Handbags vs. Designer Inspired and Fashion Handbags - What you Should Know
By Kamie Plys
Designer label handbags are just that, and they have some great styles this season, plus they also have the much coveted name and trademarked logos. Most of the designer handbags also have warranties on their products where they will fix any manufacturing defects or weaknesses for you should they occur. The designer bags however can carry a steep price tag that sets them out of reach for a lot of people.
Designer inspired and fashion handbags however, are more affordable. Designer inspired handbags are bags that have the same style as a designer label, but have enough noticeable differences to distinguish them from the designer handbag so as not to violate trademark or copyright laws. They also do not carry the designer name or logos anywhere on the bag. Fashion handbags are bags that come in many great styles, but are not styled after the designer labels.
When purchasing a designer label handbag, it's no secret that the higher price includes the name and logos. You should be sure that you get what you pay for. It is also no secret that the big designer names in handbag fashions do not wholesale their products to small independent retailers and limit the online sales of their products usually to their own website or to a large national retailer that is authorized to sell their products.
If you have to have the designer name and logo, be sure you are getting the real thing as that is what you are paying for. There are a lot of handbags out there being sold as designer label that are not. Let's say you pay $300 for a designer label handbag that is on the designers site for $900. If you did your homework and got the real McCoy, say gently used on eBay, you got a great deal, but if it turns out it's just a really good replica, you probably paid way too much for it.
If it's just the style of the handbag you like and you're not worried about the name on the bag, the designer inspired handbags and fashion handbags can give your look the same effect without breaking the bank. This is a great way to go if you like a particular look or style.
Designer inspired handbags and fashion handbags can come in varying qualities, so when purchasing them, check out the stores return policy. Stores that carry well made handbags, whether they are online or a brick and mortar store, should stand behind their products and offer some type of return policy.

Second Life Fashion Design Tips - Where To Get Started
By Alistair McMaster
Designing fashion for Second Life can be a daunting prospects. Lots of residents spend lots of lindens on Second Life clothes, and a sure way to make money is to do the same. The great thing about designing SL fashion is that you can sell the same item multiple times. In fact, you can sell it as many times as you want.
The only tough part is getting started. If you are not a programmer, designer or familiar with photo-editing, you aren't going to feel comfortable, and you won't know where to get started. But don't worry, we've come up with three easy steps you can take to start you on your way to becoming a true fashionista.
STEP 1: MASTER THE IN-GAME FASHION DESIGNER: The first step in becoming a fashion designer in SL is to get used to the in-game fashion designer. Open the appearance tool (either through the top-menu or by right-clicking on your avatar) and you can edit a multitude of different factors of your avatar's appearance. To change clothing, or design new ones, you'll need to get familiar with the texture and color menu's. Once you get comfortable with the in-game designer, you can move on to the next step.
STEP 2: GET PHOTO-EDITING: To move past the simple designs you can make through the appearance editor, you'll need to get some photo-editing software. Though many of these programs can run $300 or more, we've found an alternative that is just as good. If you want to start designing fashion seriously, you'll need The GIMP. (http://www.gimp.org/). This freeware is just as good as the commercial software out there, and there is a very active and helpful community of Gimp users that can help you. Download Gimp and learn how to use some of the features. After you do this, you are ready to move on
STEP 3: GET TEMPLATES: To use Gimp (or other photo-editing software) to design clothes for SL, you'll need some templates. A template is simply a 3-D rendering that can be laid over an avatar. With a template, you can design skins, tattoo's and clothes. To start off with, you should download Robin Wood's t-shirt template. (http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/SL-Tuts/SLTutSet.html) This will allow you to create your very first template design: a t-shirt. The template itself is very well done, and by using layers and masks, Robin Wood has created one of the best SL Fashion aides around. Use it.
Of course, there is a lot more to fashion design than what we've told you about. (We've created an excellent fashion design guide which you can find on our website. Just click on the link below.) You can spend a lot of time learning how to create fashions, but in the end, what you want is up to you. Designing clothes for SL residents is not difficult, but it does take knowledge and practice. If you can get as far as step three, you will be ahead of 90% of everyone else in the game.

Fashion Rules to Avoid Causing Career Suicide at Work
By Tl Kleban
As you sit in your office watching an endless stream of people walk by, do you ever wonder why no one stops and says hello? It's probably because of what you are wearing. I mean have you taken a good look at yourself lately? Your lack of fashion sense is offending the eyes of your colleagues and unknowingly to you endangering your career.
Most guys will never admit to this what they wear and how clean they look plays an important role in the love life, personal life and more importantly their career. What you have on can be quite influential in changing the opinions of others. Coworkers instantly get a first impression on you based on your physical appearance. Here are some fashion no-no's to avoid in the office at all times:
A battle of clashing colors - A multi-colored coat or dress shirt may fly for your wife or girlfriend but it is a big resounding negative for you to wear work. Men should stick to the rule of a three color maximum limit for each outfit they choose to wear. Be sure that those colors compliment each other as well. Don't wear a shirt of purple, black and orange unless your job is a rodeo clown. This rule also applies to your shoes. Work shoes should be black, brown and sometimes gray. Anything else is frowned upon.
Dirty and stained clothes - The last thing you want to is walk around the office giving orders only to find that you've been acting bossy with a huge red stain on your dress shirt. Any respect or authority you thought you had, went right out the window. Part of your everyday routine should to inspect your clothes before you wear them again. This should be as standard as brushing your teeth every morning. Another danger area is under the armpits which are vulnerable to those annoying yellow sweat stains. I try to keep a stain stick in my desk at all times.
Poor fitting pants - When shopping for pants, I try them on before I purchase them no matter what size they are. I'm found the hard way that different manufacturers cut their pants in different ways and in varying lengths. The rule to follow with jeans are to wear them down to the bottom of your heel while dress pants are worn to the top of your heel. Also watch the amount of sock that shows when you are walking. It should never be more than an inch or two.
Sloppy looking facial hair - If you're going to wear a beard or goatee, make sure it's well kept. Don't look sloppy or like you just woke up. You'll have a difficult time finding someone to take you seriously with a shaggy beard. They also make special hair trimmer designed specifically for those annoying nose and ear hairs too.
Way too much man-jewelry - When it comes to guys wearing jewelry, other than your wedding band nothing else should be worn than a nice watch. Chains, bracelets, rings and facial piercings should be saved for the club and not worn for work. Fashion Jewelry - What's Hot And What's Not This Year
By Victor Epand
You can come across the most stimulating designs and trends in jewelry in Europe. The unique and striking pieces of jewelry can be found in places like Greece, Italy, Spain or even Germany.
It is interesting to get into tiny goldsmith shops in foreign lands and see what all they have to offer. Goldsmiths from foreign countries exchange knowledge with one another. If you can get to the "mother lode" in Germany, you would be able to get your hands on the latest fashion trends and designs in gold and diamonds. Also, you would be able to come across amazing designs in silver and colored stones and colored gems.
You must have seen observed that the prices of precious metal such as platinum and gold have hit the highest point quite recently and Euro-silver jewelry is crafted in a better manner as compared to a majority of Mexican silver jewelry. It does not just last longer, but it is also available at a great price for all the people who are very conscious about the price of the jewelry.
The hottest fashion that is at present all round the global is the look of long earrings or chandeliers. The yester-years shoulder length earrings have come back into fashion and are available in the market. It does not matter if it is silver or gold, ancient or even the most recent design, everything is in vogue now.
Jewelry that contains diamonds or is without any diamonds or colored-stones creates an individual style statement. Two tone gold pieces i.e. yellow and white gold mixtures are extremely popular in Marco. The hottest trend at present includes pendants, bracelets, slides for omegas, and anklets. Blending in various colors of gold in this day and age is very trendy.
However, in the previous years this kind of combination was thought to be quite tacky. Platinum along with 18 karat yellow gold is fiery hot and can send your bank account up in flames. Platinum has hit its all time highest point at an average of $770 per ounce!
As a matter of fact at present long chains are not at all hot. Turquoise used to be extremely hot a year back, however, at present it is not. Plain colored stone rings are being sold once more. Tennis bracelets are as sturdy as ever. Besides, the three stone diamond pendants would be the flavor of the season yet another time in the approaching holidays. You would be surprised to know that the yester year fashion of gold coin jewelry has come into vogue again.
Trends change with the changing times, however excellent quality jewelry holds goods through the trial of time. Even though a trendy jewelry fashion goes away for a phase, it in no way falls short of returning once again, and when it does, you would already have a piece of jewelry that is in vogue. A lot of jewelry fashion begins within the elite and glamorous circuit. Keeping an eye on the jewelry that celebrities flaunt allows you to stay in touch with the hottest and latest fashion.

Ladies Purses and Handbags - Make A Fashion Statement
By Jayson Pablo
A range of stylish ladies purses and handbags are available in markets across the UK and other countries of the world. A purse or a handbag is an important item that ladies would always like to keep with them. Given below is a brief description of the historical development of ladies purses and men wallets around the world over.
A purse is defined as a small money container that is typically used by women and includes a compartment for keeping money. A purse is often fashionably designed and is used to hold a number of items like hairbrush, keys, cellular phones and other makeup related items. The word purse was originally derived from the Latin word "bursa" which means ox hide.
Ladies purses and men wallets have taken on many looks over a period of time. Early Egyptians used to wear pouches that were worn around the waist. During early 14th century, only women used to have purses that were attached to their girdle. Men started keeping wallets by the middle of 15 century in many parts of Europe. These purses and handbags were typically ornamented or embroidered with gold. It was customary for men then to present their new brides with a purse that had an illustration of a love story embroidered on it. In Africa, wizards used to carry unadorned bags in which they would keep a powder that was used to interact with the supernaturals.
People started calling their hand-held bags as handbags by the start of twentieth century. During 1920s, purses were made that had complicated fasteners, internal compartment and locks. It was then common for women to carry a doll dressed exactly like them as a handbag. The new fashion of upper class women also changed during the period. Women started carrying purses that did not match with their outfits. During World War II, women purses were made of wool as metal was saved for War supplies by the governments of the day.
Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hermes are the leading manufactures of [http://www.rupizcompare.co.uk/clothing-and-accessories/handbags-and-wallets.aspx ]ladies purses and men wallets around the world. A number of variations of the purses are also available in the markets around the world. Some of the popular variations of purses include totes, pocketbooks, security bags and coin purses. Fashion -- Latest Trends Influenced by Celebrities, But Make It Your Own
By Janice Karp
Is fashion influenced by Hollywood? When we see a popular celebrity wearing an amazing outfit, is it the latest trend? The editors of fashion magazines may think using famous people will influence "what's hot and what's not." But what's HOT on a model may be a NOT on many people!
I think there are many factors that sway us in certain directions when we go shopping. Ethnicity may be an influence. In certain cultures you have to dress a certain way. Showing a lot of leg may not be appropriate. Obviously how you are built is going to affect what type of clothes you buy. What a celebrity wears and looks incredible in may look unflattering on you. Money is a monumental influence when buying clothes. Most of us don't make millions a year and therefore can't afford to shop in the boutiques or stores our favorite actresses or actors frequent.
Even if we like what the hottest stars are wearing, why would we want to copy them. The marvelous, fun part of shopping is the statement we make when we put an outfit together. It doesn't have to be a loud statement; just a subtle one that shows our individuality. If we dress just like Lindsey Lohan or Ashley Olsen we still won't resemble them. When you see your favorite star on the cover of a magazine, it's enticing you to buy that particular issue, which is exactly what the company wants you to do. Inside will most likely be a fashion spread featuring what the "It Girls" are wearing. In my opinion, use it as a guide and then tweak it with your own personality.
I like to be fashionable, comfortable, and not spend an absurd amount of money. There are many stores that sell the latest in stylish clothing for a very reasonable price. Old Navy, The Gap and The Loft are some. You can buy jeans, T's, clothes for the office and still have money left over for shoes.
I enjoy the magazine ads and TV commercials that feature beautiful celebrities. Maybe on occasion I will be influenced to buy a bracelet I see. But as far as clothes, I think I'll stick with what looks good on me. Maybe my low-rise jeans with the stitching on the back pockets and weathered longer length t-shirt with flip-flops to match, will influence someone's fashion style.

First Date Fashion - Dressing for the Occasion
By Jennifer Wasilewski
Whether you’ve been single for awhile or just getting back into the game, a first date is exciting. While you may be anxiously awaiting your night out, you may be getting a little nervous as well. One of the biggest issues for a first day is deciding what to wear. Often times you start planning an outfit days in advance only to find that that you hate what you picked out. If spending hours in front of the mirror deciding between a skirt and pants, heels and flats, and black and blue, is not your idea of a good time, you’re not alone. Here are some tips to help you decide how to dress as well as how to do your hair and makeup for different types of dates.
What to Wear:
Daytime Date: If you’re going to be going on a day time date, consider wearing something a little more casual. Often times day time dates are meant to ease the nerves and hang out without the possibility of commitment looming over your head. Choose something that’s fun and slightly flirty, but remember to stay practical.
Out Door Dates: Going on a date that takes place outside or involves a lot of walking means you’ll need to dress appropriately. Even though you may love your brand new ruby red heels, you may want to save them for a dinner date. Wear flats that won’t get stuck in the grass and will keep your feet comfy when walking long distances.
Casual Nighttime Dates: Casual dinner and a movie dates generally call for something a little dressier than your day time attire; however, they don’t require your little black dress. Choose a pair of dress pants or a skirt and heels with a fun and flirty shirt. If you want to wear jeans, stay away from ones that are ripped or faded and opt for a darker color designer jean.
Elegant Evening Dates: Sometimes men feel it necessary to pull all the stops and take you to a fancy restaurant on your first date. If this is the case, clearly your possible new beau wants to impress you, so humor and respect him by dressing for the occasion. This is when you pull out the little black dress or a colorful equivalent and a pair of great heels. Don’t disappoint him when he picks you up by wearing jeans, even if they are really sexy.
Hair
Daytime Dates: For a casual day date, you can basically wear your hair any way you feel comfortable. If you want to dress it up a bit, try adding a cute head band or scarf that matches your outfit. Regardless of where you’re going, make sure your hair it neat and clean. You may not want to act like your desperate, but doesn’t look like you’re not trying at all.
Out Door Dates: If you will be outside for the majority of your date or if you’ll be walking to and from different places, you may want to consider pulling your hair back. This will save you the awkward embarrassment of having your perfect hair-do turn into a hair disaster because of wind, a game of soccer, of an unfortunate rain storm. Again, accessorizing your hair is a great way to turn an everyday pony tail into a cute date appropriate up do.
Casual Nighttime Dates: Casual dinner and movie dates are a great opportunity to wear your hair down and take some more time in deciding how to style it. Chances are you won’t be outdoors for long, and you won’t be taking part in physically taxing activities (at least not early in the night!). If you look great with your hair down and curly or have short hair that looks great in sassy, spiky styles, go for it. The goal is to be comfortable yet polished.
Elegant Evening Dates: If you will be dining at an elegant restaurant definitely put some time and effort into your hair. This is when you’ll want to ensure that every piece is in its right place. Often times an up-do is a great way to keep control of your hair while looking stylish and sophisticated. You’ll want to keep your accessories to a minimum. Instead of that cute scarf that you like so much, try going with small decorative barrettes to add a little refined dimension.
Makeup
Daytime Dates: Keep your makeup to a minimum. Unless you always wear a ton of makeup, don’t overdo it for a day date where you’re most likely going to be in brightly lit places. Save the smoky eyes and blood red lipstick for a special night time occasion.
Out Door Dates: Keep in mind that outdoor dates may be more physically taxing. Going for a walk; running around, or being out in the elements can easily turn pretty eyelashes into embarrassing black streaks running down your cheeks. Choose makeup that will stay on and won’t smudge. Again, you’ll want to stay away from tons of eye makeup and bold lip sticks. The goal here is to go for look playful not like a diva.
Casual Nighttime Dates: When applying your makeup, you can be more liberal for evening dates than you are for daytime engagements. This means you can break out the eye liner and go a little darker with your lipstick and eye shadow. Even though you’re going out during the evening, don’t overdo it.
Elegant Evening Dates: While you should pay particular attention to your makeup, you still want to keep in mind that less often more. You may not want to go overboard if you’re going to a classy dining establishment. Often times men enjoy woman who keep their makeup natural and most men will appreciate this if they are taking you somewhere where sophistication is the key. Subtle eye shadows and lip glosses with a bit a shimmer are a great option for elegant dining.

Fashion in Your Fifties - How to Stay Stylish
By Jennifer Wasilewski
As you make your way past your forties and into your fifties, you may feel the need to do a wardrobe overhaul. Clothing that would have looked great in your thirties no longer holds the same magical qualities. Many women fear that becoming fifty means getting rid of fashion and fun for some elastic pants and bulky sweaters. Don’t surrender your fashion sense yet. You can still look great and age appropriate with these tips.
Use Caution with Trends and Fads:
The super trendy clothes are often best saved for “twenty somethings” who are still experimenting with their style. Women in their fifties, who aren’t quite ready to surrender their fashion sense yet (And you shouldn’t be!), often make the mistake of assuming dressing young will keep you looking young. In actuality, shopping in the juniors department well into your fifties can work against your age.
Don’t shopping in the ultra trendy juniors section. Clothes in the juniors section are made for girls with a completely different body type. Even if you’re in tip top shape, your body isn’t the same as it was when you were twenty.
Just because you should stay away from some trends doesn’t mean you can’t cash in on what’s hot this season. Most women’s clothing stores or department will have a section dedicated to age appropriate trends. If you see a style in the juniors that you really like, then see if there is something similar in the section just for you.
Accessories are a great way to stay fashionable without looking like your trying too hard. For example, belts and tights are big this year. You can still take advantage of these trends in moderation.
Buy Clothes that Fit:
Many women in their fifties make the mistake of trying to cover up their body. Your body is a testament to the path you’ve traveled for forty or fifty years, the last thing you want to do is wear over sized and frumpy clothes.
Stay away from over sized clothing. Over sized clothing meant to cover child bearing tummies or a few wrinkles in the neck area often draw attention to the wrong places, make you appear less confident in your body, and ultimately work against you.
Be proud of who you are and by clothing that fits. While I’m not suggesting you shop in the petite section if you’re an average sized woman, I am suggesting you buy clothing that hugs you wear it should and leaves a little room where you need it.
Accessorize with Awareness:
Accessories offer a great way to add a little trend to your wardrobe without looking like your trying to look like you shop in the juniors department. They also have the ability to draw attention from areas that you find less than desirable.
Take advantage of accessories that lend them self to trends without being to “trendy."Accessorizing is a great way to stay moderately trendy without looking like your trying to be twenty again. For example, belts are really big this season and are a great way to experiment with what’s popular but keep it age appropriate.
The key to accessorizing is finding a happy medium. Look in the mirror and study your outfit. If you are wearing a plain v-neck top that leaves your neck looking a bit bare, wear a necklace. If the neckline of your shirt is a bit complicated or decked out with sequence and other embellishments, you may want to choose a nice bracelet and a pair of earrings instead. Likewise, if you’re wearing an extremely detailed necklace, you may want to stay away from long and dangling earrings.
Use accessories such as long necklaces that fall just about your chest to draw attention away from any wrinkles or excess skin in your neck.
Be Skin Savvy:
Unfortunately, the amount of skin that is acceptable to show decreases as your age increases. In your forties and fifties, it’s no longer appropriate to wear shirt that show extreme amounts of cleavage or miniskirts that leave little to be imagined. Even if you have the perfect body, there is just a societal agreement that seems to say that the more mature you are the more sophisticated your expected to be.
When choosing skirts, it’s a good idea to stay with length that fall no shorter than an inch or two above the knee. When choosing skirts that have slits up the sides, find something that doesn’t go more than two or three inches up your thigh.
Practice common sense when choosing shirts. You don’t need to replenish your closet with turtle necks but you should stay away from shirts that leave little to the imagination. When buying shirts, you may want to consider matching low plunging v-neck shirts with fun and flirty camisoles. This pairing keeps you fashionable yet sophisticated. A good way to decide if a shirt’s neckline is to revealing is to look down. If you can see down your shirt easily chances are a taller college will be able to do say just as easily.

Plus Size Clothes Are The New Fashion Trend
By Robin Boddy
If you are of a larger size than average, you have already realized that occasionally, the pickings for clothing that is flattering as well as comfortable is often quite scarce. Sometimes, it feels that the only options available are baggy, unattractive and overly expensive to boot! Luckily enough, times are changing and everyone from top-shelf designers to more everyday marketers are realizing that not only do larger women want fun and exciting clothing options, but that they are willing to pay for them too! At this point in time, we are experiencing a renaissance in clothing, and it is no longer difficult or frustrating to find clothing that suits you well.
While shops like Lane Bryant and Torrid have been around for quite sometime, they are still some of the leading voices when it comes plus-sized fashion. If you look closely at the designs available from places like this, you'll note some interesting things about them. The first thing that you'll see is the fact that these clothes are not simply the smaller sizes scaled up. This is actually very important, something that some other designers haven't caught on to yet. You'll find that when you buy clothes specifically tailored to your size, you'll discover that they are actually readjusted for the needs of your own body.
For instance, while some women carry their weight evenly distributed through their bodies, other women will carry their weight primarily in their hips. As can easily be seen just from a written description, two women with two different body types would certainly have different needs when it came to clothing. It is becoming easier to find designers who are interested in reflecting the wide variety in women that they service and providing clothes that fit well and flatter rather than make obvious attempts at concealment.
One thing that many people do not realize is that women as a whole are deciding that what is healthy for them is not necessarily what the magazines and the television tells them, and furthermore, this trend is one that is leading them into healthier lifestyles. With more interest nutrition and good exercise, plus sized women are finding that their shape may be perfect for them, and now there are other sources telling them this too!
If you have been holding back on shopping for a while, hold back no longer! There are plenty of different places for you to search out clothes that both look great and feel great, and if you are in a position to do some shopping, now is a great time to jump right in.
