The Evolution of Fashion Styles

By Sam Benton

Who doesn't have a favourite fashion style? Surely everyone can look back to a time in history and just admire the style of clothes worn at that time. I know I do.

My personal favourite fashion styles are a throwback to the thirties when men's suits were evolved to create the perception of a large torso. The shoulders were squared using wadding or believe it or not, shoulder pads and the sleeves were tapered to the wrist. Smart peaked lapels framed the v-shaped chest and added additional breadth to the wide shoulders. This was a period that also saw the rise in popularity of the double breasted suit the suit that developed into the modern business suit.

This was a time when men's suits were masculine and elegant with jackets with long, broad lapels, two, four or six buttons, square shoulders and vent less tails. A generous cut, long pair of trousers completed the look.

Enough of my favourites.

Every decade has brought along new more adventurous fashion styles, usually on the heels of shift in the social climate of the day.

Probably my least favourite fashion style was during the 80's when the clothing styles mirrored the culture of the day in what for me was a very self centred decade. The attitude was one of bold aggression and clothes that didn't make a bold statement just didn't make the grade. It is absolutely no surprise that not only were the fashions bold and aggressive, the middle of the 80' also saw the launch of Dior's Poison, in itself a very bold and aggressive perfume favoured by the so called powerful power suited businesswomen at the time. For me a very forgettable decade.

You can't really talk about fashion style without mentioning the sixties. The sixties was probably the most revolutionary decade in living memory. The war in Vietnam brought about a sea change in public thinking with a whole generation turning its back on aggressive imperialism. The upshot was a wave of peace demonstrations where the notion of love and peace were embraced by a very enthusiastic and willing audience. The hippy styles of the sixties were a blatant snub to the conformity of the previous decade with flowers, colour and a return to basics.

Love them or loathe them, fashion styles change with the direction of the wind and long may that continue.

Peace man

Fashion Style - How to Dress For Your Body Shape

By Nela Odarijew

If your body type has curves, here is how to show them off. This is the type of cloths you should wear. Play up curves by choosing fluid fabrics. Draw attention to your waist with a shapely jacket. Make sure that both pieces are fitted, but not tight.

If your body type is short-waisted and you have long legs, or both. You should choose jackets with lengths that reach below the waist or farther. De emphasize your waistline with jackets in fluid fabrics, or jacket and dress suits. Elongate your torso by creating verticals above the waist. Emphasize your leg length with arrow pants or short skirts.

If You have a body type that is long-waisted or you have Short Legs or both. You would want to elongate your legs by wearing narrow bottoms without texture or hem detail. De emphasize your torso with cropped jackets or high-waisted styles. Remember that skirts are generally better than pants because they obscure the exact spot where your legs begin.

If you have a round middle or thin legs or both. Use vertical detailing, jacket closures and shape to lengthen your upper torso. Find a jacket that is semi fitted. It should have form, to give curves, but it shouldn't cinch your middle. Choose slim, simple bottoms to focus attention on your legs.

If you have a small top or a large bottom or both. Then you should look for details or accessories on the jacket that will focus attention upward. Make sure to show your waistline by wearing a fitted or shorter jacket. Enlarge the shoulders slightly to balance out your hips. Be wary not to overdo it, though, or you'll appear big all over. Downplay your lower half with soft flowing or straight bottoms.

If you have a large top or a small bottom or both, you should avoid padding or detail on the jacket to minimize broad shoulders. Focus attention on your hips with narrow or cropped jackets. Look for jackets with less structure and more drape. Add verticals above the waist. Emphasize long legs with slim cuts.

Gaudy Over Graceful - Tips For Business Women Fashion Sense

By Priyanka Arora

Business women may still be fashionable and professional looking as well without having to risk the whole outfit and become inappropriate in attending a business event. The negative thing today and with the generation is there is confusion amongst classy and trashy when talking about how a woman reflects her image and what she wants to project to represent her style. You can take a look at these guidelines to be able to eliminate the negative images and be able to project a good sense of fashion for women in the business industry.

Wearing heels in the business environment is not a bad choice for it creates a good effect for the slacks or pants and may add up some height. But remember to pay attention with the selection of inches for the heels. Stilettos have too high and thin heels which are great for parties and not for business functions because it doesn't reflect the formality of the whole outfit. Select comfortable shoes that have medium sized heel and thickness.

Another excellent method of enhancing the physical appearance is to choose customized or tailored clothes. Selecting clothes that will suit your body figure will reflect how comfortable they are when you wear it and it will show the confidence of wearing business attire. Tight clothes are not proper for business meetings.

Sheer blouses are great pieces of fabrics that can add style to the business attire. See through ones may appear to be unprofessional. The top used to hide the blouse should match the blouse underneath. Fashion - From Day To Night

By Priyanka Arora

The skirt has a world of different fashions and versions, ruffle skirt, pencil skirt, A-line skirt, mini skirts, among others. The pencil skirt, both sexy and elegant, shows a woman's enchantment, no matter what season, this peace of clothing, just like a classic white blouse, can be worn for a day at the office, as well as a party night with friends or a fancy cocktail.

For a day at work, you can wear a pencil skirt in any color combined with a blazer in another color tone, to attract more attention to the upper part. Don't forget your high pumps to emphasize your figure and exalt your elegance.

If you have a cocktail by night, a fancy dinner or a night out with a group of friends, you can wear a sexy short along with your skirt, leave your blazer at the car and bring your oversized clutch and stilettos.

The secret to wearing the same clothes, but different outfits from day to night is in the combination used for your items. Mix your clothes, wear different accessories according to the activity, for your outfit to appear a different one. Also, try combining different purses with your shoes. Imagination is the foundation to your success.

If you wear jeans for work, try using a funky jacket and accessories, for night, loose the jacket, show your shirt and change your accessories.

Since tunics and mini dresses are the #1 item for this spring, wear them with pants for work but for your girl's night out, have fun and use that tunic as a mini dress with high heels or platforms.

Scarves are also a must-have item for daring look-altering women. For your office, tie your scarf around your neck, while at night you can tie it across your waist as a belt, or even use it as a sexy shirt, wrap two corners around your neck and the remaining two corners around your waist.

The color scheme can change according to your preference, but black and white is still the favorite among women. Wear colors for work but then bring out your sexier side with black and white tones for your eveningwear.

If you are on vacation, you'll need to change your look from the beach to night, there are numerous beach cover-up dresses that you can change the tie-in and wear as a sexy dress by night, pack your beach bag with your best accessories and voilá.

Your makeup can also convert from being convenient for day to sexy and outgoing for night. Apply a higher blush tone to your cheeks, do the same with your eyeliner, so you can bring more potential to your eyes. Use loose powder to eliminate shine on your skin. Add eye shadow in irridescent tones like silver and gold.

Your aroma is as important as your whole look; it complements who you are, for day, try using floral scents while at night use a stronger perfume to emphasize your sensual femininity. Is Your Diet Out Of Date? Lose Weight With The In Fashion Diet Regardless of Health Issues

By Kacy Carr

Is your diet safe, is it out of date. With new weight loss plans introduced at what seems a speed faster than light has us query is an aging diet a healthy one.

When dieting was first brought to the attention of the obese the whole concept of losing weight this way excited the flab carriers who believed is was going to be easy. It is only easy if you want it to be. Is there reason for concern about dated diets now evidence tells us otherwise? Do we stick with the diet proved to be best many moons ago or opt for the more up market diet that begs to differ? Is the fashionable diet better than the latter? Listen up fat people and I mean that in a nice way, the diet you choose should be one you are comfortable with and one that does not affect your health whilst shedding the pounds.

A sensible eating plan followed with light exercise is the answer. Okay both options mentioned are always included with most diet plans these days, so what's new, well could it be the expensive dietary foods and gym memberships that come included too. If will power has never been your strong point and you need guidance then you can join a diet club that not only mentors but monitors the whole process. If you are determined to go it alone, better still, you can devise a diet plan to suit not only you, but your pocket too.

I have my self have never had a problem with weight, but in saying that the pounds did drop off after bedtime meals were cut out, eating a Sunday roast while propped up with pillows was never going to be comfortable. Avoid munching at bedtime; crumbs only upset your sleep pattern

One reason not to eat before bedtime is because of the significant weight gain issue; this as we speak is in dispute. If I have to argue the cause then let the debate commence, diet experts or not. If my self had not seen the waistline not so rounded any more, or that of not having to increase dress size has left me confused over the dispute. However I wait the outcome of this review because each individual`s body differs, and because of this is more the reason why your diet has to be tailor made for you. When the body sleeps it is less active, therefore processes slow down. Scoffing before slumber will not burn off calories, instead the fat is stored. Consult your doctor or dietitian before dieting or exercising. Never rush things, neither crash diets nor sudden exertion is safe.

Diets that restrict calories or the types of food 'permitted' can lead you to be deficient in the nutrients and vitamins that are vital for the body. Although food is a survival source it can also kill be it the cause of obesity. Our bodies use food for energy. It stores any excess energy as fat. Simply explained, eating more food than your body needs for daily deeds and cell protection will see weight gain. To lose weight stored fat needs to be gone, do this by reducing calorie intake and implementing light exertion. Dieting is about sacrificing, i.e. cutting out cake and biscuits. Nibbling one biscuit extra a week can lead to a 5lb weight gain annually, goodbye to digestives.

The person, who increases the amount of exercise that they do, and keeps the same diet and calorie intake, will certainly lose weight. A 20 minute walk is great for burning calories and fat. Aerobics classes, running, walking, swimming and cycling will all better your fitness levels and keep you in shape. Choose an exercise you enjoy this will encourage you to stick to it Take location and cost into consideration if joining a fitness club. Park the car up and incorporate longer walks, walk round the block twice to go to the shops. Use the stairs instead of the lift, if you order a taxi or get on a bus then get out or get off before destination. You will not lose body fat if chocolate, greasy chips and candy still list on your menu. Goodbye is not imminent for these delights just eat them in smaller quantise and not as frequent.

If a diet promises overnight weight loss, think "who are these promoters trying to kid".

Intake of 300 to 500 calories less per day should lead to a loss of between one and two pounds per week. Calculated weight loss is about three stone a year. Fat contains a vast amount of calories out of all the food types (protein, carbohydrates) snub fatty foods and eat more wholegrain bread, fruit and vegetables.

1 Swap fizzy soda and cordial with mineral water

2 Replace whole milk for semi-skimmed

3 Lightly spread margarine on sandwiches Cut out sugar in hot drinks.

4 Ban sugary foods, biscuits and crisps between meals because they are problem causers of weight gain this applies to drinking beer and wine also.

Do not miss meals to lose weight. Missing a meal will reduce your calorie intake and can lead to binge eating later to fill the rumbling tummy.

Irregular eating habits can disrupt the body`s metabolism making it harder to lose weight. Start your own diet plan, weigh yourself once a week before breakfast. Keep records and see if a pattern develops from doing a 20 minute walk every day, declining alcohol form Monday to Friday along with sugary foods. Substitute with healthy snacks i.e. fruit, trim fat from meat and grill all food. Take the weight of your mind and start today. Fashion Trends for Teens

By Jennie Amit Gandhi

Teen fashion is pretty serious business. The trends are erratic, spontaneous, anything but not constant. Teen age too is a precious time of life and the best time to look good. Studies reveal that teenagers are more knowledgeable about any fashion accessory that other age-wise clients.

Demand from this sector is high and continuous. A designer catering to teenage fashion wear promises himself a life of revolution and creative exploration. All teenagers are not rebels, they are just fashion conscious.

From ethnic to fusion and trendy western casuals, teenage is all about joy in vivid colours. Teenagers are hard pressed for time as they are always rushing from errands to coaching classes and regular schools. Thus they prefer something easy and comfortable. Their primary choice remains denims, jeans, washes in acid and stone. Corduroys fashions come and go. Teenagers go extremely creative about accessories. As we label it as funky wear, this is a booming industry in India. Trinkets form bracelets, beads, clasp nose rings, cluster earrings, fake tattoos, nail painting, henna and bindis.

Carefree attitude and the spirit of life is seen in mix and match wears, trendy jackets, stoles with tassels, bandanas, hair colour, faux fur trims on high boots and elbow pads in amazing hues. Shoes and belts are sensitive to fashion demands and gadgets are trendy. Skirts go from long, to flares and short skirts from knee length to white mini skirts. Blouses come in tank tops and off shoulders for bold looks and classy colours in lilac and fuchsia in georgette or satin for a little conservative. The idea is to understand the venue of your day and dress accordingly.

Ethnic wear for teenagers demands lot of invention. Lehengas and Ghagras come in various colours like emerald green, pool blue and be it gota, zari or embellishments in pearl, crystals or sequins, teenagers seem to need more! The demand is insatiable in fusion wear with embroidered suits for boys and jackets too. It is remarkable to notice the teenagers skin deep in tradition at any Indian festival or celebration.

Though western trends such as [http://www.japanesefashion.net]japanese fashion seem to influence teenagers in all walks of life, it is the effort of designers in balancing the ethnicity of Indian fashion. The next time you need the latest hair colour, be sure to ask a teenager!

Creativity - Key To Changing Fashion Trends

By Jennie Amit Gandhi

If you are born with an artistic mind then you are blessed. Creativity is an energy from within, which refreshes you and spreads enthusiasm around. Preserving this talent is essential. All of us pave our way to generate income for survival.

Somehow it's a truth that you are your best teacher. Formal education and degrees can be well sought but improvements are autonomous feelings. Supposing one is the best designer in town and has raked enough moolah with many fashion shows. You are a style guru and have your mantras. This is that peak in life which beckons you to empower yourself with more talents.

Fashion and design are brisk business centres. Style come and go and re-invent themselves. It is a gamut of business concerning clients and adhering to trends. To carve a niche is easy, to be a pioneer is achievable but to stay there is survival.

Get into the habit of reading books other than your ritual fashion magazines. Know the world, understand market trends and find potential in business areas. If textile is flourishing business, then diversify your current talent. Hone your skills in block printing and tie and die methods. Keep abreast of earlier fashion trends, watch for repetitions and know all about fabrics and weaving. Leave no room for excuses and lack of knowledge.

Leaf over your old sketches, suggest self-improvements, encourage new talents, learn from novices too. Invent colours and experiment with fall of fabrics. Make thematic business presentations viz. seasonal clothes, trousseau collection or 1st birthday celebration in kid apparels. In India the need for fashion is growing and a designer has much to explore.

Learn about knits and crochets, get down the basics of silk threads, adapt a new fabric to Indian seasons. Set a trend. Many times your ideas boomerang, but let that be a springboard for further self development. Practice your strokes, be international in your business and convey effectively.

Creative fields rush the adrenaline high to cause burn-outs. List your priorities and balance well. Network with people in difference streams, appreciate their views and imbibe them in your designs. Be keen to explore and try to learn something new often.

Mens Fashion Tips - 16 Fashion Tips All Men Should Read

By Alain Picard

Why should you be concerned of the way you look?

There are plenty of reasons! Dressing the part plays a major role in many aspects of your life. Think about your work, your romantic life and your day to day activities.

It's all about perception, I've seen many people get promoted simply due to the fact that they have always looked professional. Maybe looking professional didn't get them the job but at least it got them the interview! Most women also appreciate a man who knows how to dress, it makes them feel like their man is confident and accomplished. Perception is key in day to day activities and the way you dress has a huge impact on it.

It's a proven fact that it takes only 30 seconds for someone to make up their mind on what they think about you. Imagine if you look like a clown? I'm sure you get the picture.

We should all take advantage of this and make sure we look our best in our day to day activities in case we have a chance for that special promotion, in case we meet that special someone, or simply just to look and feel fantastic!

Here is a list of tips to help you and fashion mistakes to avoid!

1. Socks should match your pants. Easy as 1, 2, 3.

2. Belts should match your shoes. Not every one is color blind like you ;).

3. Never wear both a belt and suspenders. The combination makes you appear less confident - you big wuss.

4. Ties should reach your belt line. This is simply the rule. A short tie makes you look like a dufus.

5. Properly knotted ties have a "dimple" under the knot. Sort of like one of Mario Lopez's cheeks... Btw, Clips and tacks are out of date.

6. Your shoes should be clean, shined, repaired and appropriate for the occasion. If you are wearing a suit, wear lace-up shoes. Don't forget to keep shoetrees in your shoes when you're not wearing them.

7. Don't wear a short sleeve shirt in combination with a tie. Actually, never wear a short sleeve shirt period. People have the perception that short sleeve shirts are only worn by lower class people. You can wear one if you want to be a McDonald's manager, not if you want to exude a professional look.

8. The Button-Down collar dress shirt is simply not suitable for dressy formal wear nor with a double-breasted suit. Why? Well even though it's now a business classic during the day, it was originally a sport shirt worn by polo players.

9. Wear the right size pants ok? Pants are long enough if they have a slight break in the front. Pants should have enough length to cover up your socks, and your socks should be long enough to cover your shins even when you're legs are crossed. Pleats and cuffs both should be treated with respect. Pleats let you walk comfortably while looking professional and help a bigger man look great while cuffs will add weight to the bottoms of your pants sometimes giving them the perfect drape.

10. Socks with Sandals. Even if you live in Maine, don't do it - you'll look like a schmuck.

11. Chunky Shoes. Lose them, the Axel Rose era is over.

12. Backpacks. Alright, maybe this is just a minor mistake, but you're trying to climb the corporate ladder, not hike up mount everest.

13. Clashing or too many colors. Do you really want to look like a gay pride flag? Stick to complementary colors (those opposite from each other on the color wheel) or colors from the same pallet. You can find one on the web very easily by searching on google!

14. Ponytails. You're not the rock star of your office. Spend the 20$ for a haircut, you can afford it.

15. Too much jewelry. Put the jewelry away P. Diddy or should we call you Puff Daddy? If you want to wear jewelry, opt for a classy pair of [http://www.linkyourshirt.com/designer-cufflinks/cat_19.html]designer cufflinks.

16. Comb-overs. These shout insecurity. Shave it, lose it or cover it.

How to Buy Unique Fashion Jewelry

By Peter I. Wilson

No matter what you are interested in, designer jewelry is very popular. However jewelry is actually a victim of its own success because when this becomes so popular there is more temptation for people to copy and rip off the jewelry. The more popular the design becomes, the more knock offs are available. This can happen for pretty much any product, including jewelry. The knock offs are usually made quite cheaply and can be of an inferior quality.

What you need to think about when choosing fashion jewelry.

The easiest way to buy a good piece of designer fashion jewelry is to visit shops that have a good reputation. If you are shopping for certain brands of jewelry then you should start by checking out the specific shops. By going to large department stores you are ensuring that you will get a better level of service. If you are looking for gold engagement rings, then don't go to a cheap fashion jewelry store.

Shopping in specialist stores means that the sales assistants actually know what they are talking about. If the shop is good then it will have a good reputation, in the business world reputation means everything. You must carefully inspect each piece of designer jewelry to make sure that it has the correct hallmark. If it doesn't have a hallmark then it's probably fake.

If you prefer leather jewelry or more unique natural forms of jewelry then you should check out local jewelry shops and even amateur designers. You should also pay careful attention to the reputation of the people that do these handicrafts.

If you buy from a cheap store then you cannot identify whether or not it is made to a high quality or a poor quality. If you buy these cheap pieces of jewelry you might quickly regret it when it breaks due to inferior quality. You should spend time to work out what each piece of jewelry is made out of.

If you prefer to shop online rather than going out then you should bear the reputation of the particular online shop in mind. If you are planning to buy from eBay then you must be more careful. Make sure you only buy from trusted eBay sellers that have a good reputation. If you buy inferior jewelry from eBay or the internet you will have a very hard time returning it for a refund. You must still be cautious when buying from eBay and pay special attention to the description and photos. Receiving a picture of what you brought is not fun!

Being passionate about jewelry stores and gold engagement ring, Peter Wilson has been editing countless detailed articles on this specific topic. You can see his work on gold engagement rings and gold engagement ring at http://www.engagement-rings-tips.com .

Men's Fashion - Developing Your Own Individual Style

By Kelly Price

Mens fashion and style interests men more today than ever, as they realize that looking good is an asset in every aspect of their lives: Business, personal or, social.

The fact is, a well groomed man will get a second look, your personality may be great but first impressions count.

If you are serious about making the right impression you need to check out men’s fashion and adapt it to your own personalized style.

Get a stylish look your comfortable with

Some men feel confident enough to do this for themselves, for those who are less confident an image consultant can be employed, to give help and advice.

Fashion & Style

In today's world, to stay one step ahead, it's important to look your best. That means developing your own sense of style and this does not simply mean following fashions and trends for the sake of it.

There is a big difference between being stylish and just following the latest men’s fashion trends for the sake of them.

A fashion victim is someone who wants follow all the latest men’s fashion trends regardless of whether they suit their body shape looks or, age and is someone who can't put his look together.

Looking your best does require a certain amount of effort, but ultimately, your clothes have to fit right, and suit your style, image and personality.

Keep in mind, it's not about the clothes you wear -- it's about how you wear them.

The most important aspect of developing your own style is remaining true to yourself.
Just because something looked great on a model doesn't necessarily mean it's for you!

There are enough styles out there, so that everyone can be comfortable finding their own.

Be yourself

Wear what you think looks good, not what others believe is trendy.

You should always feel comfortable with what you're wearing, so stick to items that suit your personality and style, while keeping the occasion and setting in mind.

David Beckham may be able to get away with wearing a sarong but this probably is not be the best look for you!

The key with men’s fashion is always to match it to your personality, age and personal features.

Don’t Overdo It

Don’t try and make to much of an effort to look fashionable that you end up overdoing it.

You don't have to wear every single trendy item you own, all at once.

By all means buy fashionable pieces, if they suit you and mix and match them with the basics in your wardrobe.

Maintain balance

Keep a good balance of basic and fashionable clothes in your wardrobe.

As a rule of thumb, not more than half of your wardrobe should not consist of trendy clothes, or worse, clothes that are out of style.

Don't Be A Slave To The Media & Brands

Don't base your look solely on what you see in magazines and on TV.

Celebrities and models often overdo trends for attention and media exposure, and their look will not necessarily work well in the real world or for you.

Finally, don’t be influenced by brand names just because a brand has a great reputation, doesn’t mean it will look good on you.

Fashion Theory - How To Calculate Your Clothing Budget

By Jacinta Gandy

I suggested to Aisha, a recent client, that she invest in a durable leather handbag. Aisha argued that she simply couldn't afford to spend upwards of $300. The remarkable thing about this was that once we analyzed her recent clothing purchases we realized that she was spending about $300 monthly on clothing! Aisha was actually suffering from sticker shock and had kind of become accustomed to buying quantity instead of quality. The end result was that her closet was essentially bursting at the seams with discount and poorly constructed clothing. In the end, Aisha was in effect spending $3,600 annually (nearly 10% of her $37,000 salary) on a wardrobe that lacked both function and style.

Establishing a budget is a very difficult question to answer from a general perspective because everyone's financial and clothing situation is different. If you have a job that allows you to work in a casual environment where some of your everyday clothing can be incorporated into you daily work outfits, I would estimate the overall clothing allowance to be somewhere around 7%. For those that work in a more professional office environment where you are expected to dress the part and dressing the part may overall affect your promotion-ability factor; I would estimate around 10% of your salary. Keep in mind, this budget should include the costs of alterations and professional cleaning services. It is also important to note that if you are maintaining a household on this salary, i.e. you have children or a spouse you must allocate a portion of this amount to their clothing allowance as well.

Example 1: Aisha works in a business casual environment. Her salary is $37,000. Her clothing allowance is: $2,590.
-
Example 2: Elaine works in a professional business environment. Her salary is $85,000. Her clothing allowance is: $8,500.

1. Invest in Investment Pieces: Investment pieces are just that - "investment" pieces! So, don't be afraid to spend a little more money on the classics which are required to create a functional wardrobe. Discount stores such as Marshalls, Century 21, and DSW could produce some very valuable finds, however it is important that you don't become distracted and divert from the standard classics when shopping at these stores. For classics, I recommend shopping at a formula store. A formula store is typically a specialty retail store that stocks key basics. Some great formula stores are Gap, Ann Taylor LOFT and The Limited. The great thing about a formula store is that once you find the sizes and styles that suit you best, you can shop there season to season with little difficulty. These are great stores for purchasing a classic a-line skirt, trousers, jeans, button-ups, and tees, tanks and camis of variety.

2. Don't Be a Label Whore: When it comes to beautiful dresses, handbags, shoes and scarves there are some designers that are simply ahead of the par, however to simply focus all of your efforts into collecting clothing that has a designer label tag regardless of how flattering or well-fitting the item is - is simply not a good option.

3. Do Apply The Cost-Per-Wear Concept: To get back to the example I gave previously of Aisha spending $300 on a leather handbag. The leather handbag is an investment piece which can be carried for months or possibly years to come. If Aisha carried this handbag for just six months her cost per wear would be $50. I discuss the Cost per Wear Concept in more detail in a recent post.

4. Don't Charge: I know to some people this may seem unthinkable; however I think whenever you shop with credit cards you are always tempted to get caught up in the emotional buzz of said item and go well over your budget. If you're carrying a lot of debt (particularly from past shopping activities) you really need to think long and hard about plunking 7-10% of your income towards clothing. A simple rule of thumb I often use is "Don't buy it unless you can afford to buy two." No, I'm not saying that you should buy two of everything; rather what I am suggesting is that every time you buy something, you take that same dollar amount and apply it towards paying off debt or towards savings. So in effect, that $300 handbag will now cost you $600; $300 to purchase and another $300 in savings or debt payment. The amount of your clothing budget should match or exceed the amount you are saving or applying towards debt repayment.

5. Make It Automatic: Now that you have established your clothing budget, the only sure fire way to stick to it is to make it automatic. Here are two great ideas for actually staying on budget.
Low Tech Option: If your budget allows for $200 to be spent a month on clothing. Place this amount of cash in an envelope. When shopping for clothing only spend what is in the envelope. Once this amount is gone you have exhausted your clothing budget for the month.
High Tech Option: Set up a separate checking account (I suggest an ING Orange account) and have a specific amount deposited into your account periodically; for example $50 a week. When shopping for clothing only use the debit card associated with this checking account. The nice thing about this option is that if you are not someone who shops on a weekly or monthly basis the money continues to grow towards your much anticipated shopping spree.

6. Maximize Your Budget: A pair of Jimmy Choo shoes is no longer $500. It's $500 minus the $165 you will get for selling them on EBay the following year. EBay and consignment stores are a great source for stretching your clothing allowance. If you don't have a lot of designer clothing in your closet you can still receive some financial benefit from making a tax-deductible donation to your local goodwill or charity.

Trendy Men's Fashion Tips

By Simon Merkel

Looking good means more than having a fit, cut body. It also means possessing a style that's all your own. Mens fashion can be everlasting using permanent and classic styles. Men's fashion and style interest men more today than ever as they realize that looking good is an asset in every aspect of their lives: business, personal, or social. Some men feel confident enough to do this for themselves; for those who are less confident an image consultant can be employed to give help and advice.

If the look is perfect on the runway, that doesn't mean that it's perfect for you as a complete copy. While you should use designer's best trends to guide your look and give it some style, mix-and-match your basics.

Use your favorites from seasons before for a more affordable style that's completely on-trend. Men's interview dressing has been fairly static over the years. Many men want fashion freedom, but what they want to wear is a big step from what they wear daily today. It is best to start slowly and build up to total fashion freedom.

Don't be a slave to flashy branding. Your clothes can have more defined style without necessarily having a logo on them, and when your pieces are subtly stylish, you can wear them more often. This is essential for those of us who tend to hang onto our favorite pair of jeans. A good collection of basics will help you highlight major fashion finds, and can give your trendy pieces more polished style.

A fashion victim is someone who wants to follow all the latest men's fashion trends regardless of whether they suit his body shape, looks, or age. If you love fashion, that doesn't mean you need to layer on the accessories. Choose a simple pair of shades, a man bag and a great pair of shoes to round out your wardrobe. There's no need for a watch, bracelets and necklaces worn all together. Don't try and make so much of an effort to look fashionable that you end up overdoing it. Keep a good balance of basic and fashionable clothes in your wardrobe. As a rule of thumb, not more than half of your wardrobe should consist of trendy clothes, or worse, clothes that are out of style. Dress to impress for business or pleasure with men's fashion tips from Men's Fitness.

Men Fashion Tips

1. Wear what you think looks good, not what others believe is trendy.

2. Don't try and make so much of an effort to look fashionable that you end up overdoing it.

3. Keep a good balance of basic and fashionable clothes in your wardrobe.

4. Don't base your look solely on what you see in magazines and on TV.

5. Using the right shampoo will help reduce hair loss and improve the look of any hairstyle.

Fashion Clothing Tips for Short Women

By Ispas Marin

Petite curvaceous women definitely need to elongate their body using their clothing style for minimizing the volume. This is the general rule for the women owning this type of figure. In order to cover the faults of a figure not belonging to a tall, skinny 'giraffe' type model, you need to follow some essential tricks.

- Your aim is to elongate your body. The most frequent mistake petite women making in terms of clothing is cutting their bodies by using pieces of clothes as jackets and belts in the wrong proportions. Wearing large belts on top of pants or skirts together with blouses of different color is not the best choice as it cuts the body in two parts, drawing attention to the shortness of the figure.

- You should also avoid wearing extra fabric around the waist. You already possess a good amount of volume in this area and the last thing you need adding some more.

- A false myth is the idea that very long skirts make your legs look long. Very long, baggy skirts make your legs look shorter. Long skirts may make you look taller if they go down to the ankle level and if they are straight.

- A good trick to elongate your legs is to wear straight pants that cover your shoes. This will definitely add some extra inches to your legs.

- Mixing colors is permitted for petite women but remember that it is the monochromatic clothing that makes you look taller and slimmer.

- Avoid wearing thick fabric clothing as it adds extra weight to your figure.

- The best trick to elongate your body is to wear vertical lines patterned clothing. But keep in mind not to exaggerate as you will end up looking like a zebra. It is enough to wear a pair of jeans that have a vertical line in the seams and you will create the illusion of a taller person. Just one or two lines are enough to create this illusion. Try to avoid wearing clothing items with multiple vertical lines or mixing two garments with lines pattern.

- If you also have some extra pounds, the best way to hide them is to fit properly the clothing items. Remember that oversize t-shirts don't hide extra pounds, they make people look baggy, without any shape.

- Too tight means too bad. However very tight clothes are risky too.Properly fitted clothes help you show the best of your body. Never wear clothes that show an open view of your tummy. It will only call attention to this wrong part of your figure.

- And the 'must do' rule for petite women is to always wear high heels. Matching stilettos to long, straight pants is the combination that will make you look taller and slimmer in any situation.

And keep in mind: any figure fault can be covered by using the right piece of clothing. http://www.sassyclothing.com/ offers clothing for various tastes like tight, urban, gothic, punk, express and hippie clothing. Many other types available.

Men's Fashion - 5 Steps to Painless Shopping for Business Attire

By Lynda Goldman

Are you a guy who loves to shop? Or would you rather do anything than spend an afternoon buying business clothing?

If you avoid the mall like the plague, this article gives you 5 steps to shopping for a smart looking business wardrobe.

1. Survey your closet. Instead of making haphazard purchases, go through your closet to see what you need. If you are like most men, you hate the thought of doing this. Here's how to do it quickly and easily. Enlist the help of a sympathetic female - your girlfriend, wife, friend, sister or cousin. Make sure this woman has a good eye for fashion, and can help you decide what looks good on you, and what is detracting from a professional business image.

2. Make a plan. Decide what items are highest on your priority list. These may be items you don't currently have, such as a suit or dress shirt for a job interview. Or they may be items that are outdated, that don't fit you well, or that don't meet your work needs. For example, if you've changed jobs and now work in a more conservative environment, you may need a new jacket or two. But if your company has a new business casual policy, a few sweaters or polo shirts can update your business wardrobe.

3. Do your market research. Scout out a few stores to find out what kind of men's wear they carry. It is mainly suits? More casual wear? What is the price range? Do they accept all the major credit cards, or only their store cards? If you are on a budget, it's important to find this out before you fall in love with a designer suit that's way out of your range.

4. Know your finances. Decide on your priorities, and how much money you can spend before you go shopping. Even if money is not a problem, when you buy clothes, especially suits, the price can rise quickly when you add the shirts, ties and accessories to match. Deciding ahead of time what you are looking for can help you resist sales pressure once you're in the store.

5. Know your body type. If you aren't sure, ask a good sales person, or your female shopping companion, to help you discover what looks good on you. Even small changes in style can make a huge difference in how the clothes fit you, and the impression you make.

Men's Fashion and Style Tips #1

By Tomer Reiser

Fashion is no longer just for women. There are many ways that men can stay as fashionable and as up to date as their female counterparts.

Here are some great tips to help you look your best:

1. Stick with styles that suit you - Sometimes the trendiest clothing is not the right choice for you. If you have a personal style, stick with it. Otherwise, you'll just look uncomfortable and that's not the impression you want to give. That's not to say you can't change things up a little, but don't try to become an entirely different person.

2. Invest in a few good pieces - It's easy to waste your money on designer clothes, but not everyone can afford to that. Instead, focus on three key designer items that are necessary for every man's closet. First, a nice pair of designer jeans. Get a classic cut that will never go out of style. Second, a nice designer button-down shirt. You'll get a lot of wear out of this one. Third, a designer suit. These three pieces can get you through just about anything.

3. Don't forget outerwear - A lot of people tend to focus only on their clothes, forgetting coats. You should have at least one nice coat that can transition from casual to business easily.

4. Don't forget underwear - On the same token, you don't want to skimp on what lies beneath. Invest in some high quality underwear in the style that suits you. These will last much longer than the cheap kind and they are a lot more comfortable. When you're comfortable down there, you're comfortable everywhere.

5. Get some great tees - T-shirts are versatile and a necessary part of everyone's wardrobe. Look for a few high quality tees made of expensive cotton that look like a million bucks. Throw in a few vintage tees for good measure, but don't go too overboard.

6. Don't forget the slacks - While everyone loves to wear jeans, sometimes they just aren't appropriate. If you don't have a need to wear a suit, you should at least have one pair of nice dress slacks. Whether you need them for a date or you just want a change, it's nice to have a pair on hand.

7. Invest in nice shoes - Shoes really complete a polished picture, if they are done right. You should have at least one pair of the following shoes on hand: running shoes, dress shoes, casual shoes, hiking boots, and a pair of dressy boots. Keep them clean and polished at all times.

8. Remember to accessorize - All men need at least one dress watch and one casual watch, as well as an assortment of nice neck chains and/or bracelets. Don't go overboard with the jewelry, but a nice chain can really complete an outfit.

9. Tie it all together - Ties can actually be a lot of fun. If you don't own a tie right now, go out and buy at least one classic tie. Stick with solids if you are afraid of matching them with shirts, or get funky with some cool patterns if you want to change it up a bit.

10. Keep them looking good - No matter how much you spend on clothes; if you throw them on the floor, they're going to look awful. Take care of your clothes and make sure you follow the care instructions properly. Dry cleaning is expensive, but well worth it sometimes.

How The Bra Has Evolved From Hidden Utility Item To Mainstream Fashion Statement

By Gregg Hall

Remember when all bras looked and felt the same and you hardly had any different choices? You would buy one, maybe two and only replace them when they were virtually falling apart. Now all that has changed and you can find such a diverse array of choices that it can boggle the mind. I know I go shopping with my wife and we go into Victoria's Secret, (yes I am comfortable in my manhood), I am amazed by the all of the different styles and colors available. I would never attempt to buy her a bra even though I will buy other lingerie for her.

These days many women have their own collections of all kinds of different styles and colors for nearly any kind of occasion or situation. There are bras that are specifically for work only and then others that may be sexier for wearing for nights on the town and then others like sports bras for wearing when exercising. Over the last couple of decades there have been major advances in the technology for making bras as well as in the number of companies making them.

One type of bra that has become very popular is the razorback which came into being due to the popularity of spaghetti strap tank tops and dresses. Another type that has become in great demand is the push up and underwire variety because of all of the styles of tops now that feature a lot of cleavage showing. The technological advances in bra design are really showcased in this type of bra and it is probably the fastest growing segment of the market.

Going right along with the meteoric rise of high fashion lingerie is the explosion of specialty lingerie shops. As little as twenty years ago you would never see a shop that sold only high end lingerie but now they seem to be everywhere. Some of these are divisions of large bra makers and designers that even have their own fashion shows on TV and online. That is definitely not something we would have seen two decades ago. The combination of the FCC loosening their rules a little and the existence of companies that have the foresight to put on these shows has brought this to pass. Victoria’s Secret even has an event that they put on during Super Bowl half time that has proven to be extremely popular.

It doesn’t matter what type of bra you need now you can find any color, any size, and any style for work, play, or exercise. I recommend checking online for the largest selection.

How You Can Select a Fashion Style For a Hot New Look In 7 Days

By Korbin Newlyn

Fashion is a manner of communicating your inner self through clothes. Apparel frequently symbolizes a specific style or era and each year fashion designers attempt to contribute and produce new trends that can depict the time of the present year and hopefully create a milestone in history forever.

There are numerous fashion styles through, which we remember a time period. Those fashions constantly live on since they were highly successful and frequently in a classic way which perpetually was and will be everlasting.

There are numerous of us who desire to put on what is in fashion at any expense; not only in the current year but every single season: spring, summer, fall and winter. Nevertheless, there is one matter we do not hesitate to look at, which the most significant affair in fashion is: does the fashion style accommodate us.

How Do You Recognize If a Fashion Style Becomes You?

It is really uncomplicated; clothes are normally fashioned with varied types of silhouettes in mind and despite the fact that we are no fashion models from the runway, we must contemplate the following prior to selecting a fashion style: height, weight and skin tone. All things in fashion is chosen to match and put forward a individual's quality characteristics forward and in order for you to put yours, you essentially need to be conscious of your body and skin tone.

Your height and weight will decide whether you should pick out fashion styles that apply short or long skirts or dresses as each one can accentuate a aspect of your body. Your skin tone will define what color clothes you should select and that as well is instantly connected to fashion styles as some designers make particular colors only.

It is significant you be your own judge and friend in order that you will be capable of picking out the most effective fashion styles that will bring out your best characteristics and hence, give you your money's worth. What benefit is there to wear something that is the newest fashion yet does not accommodate your style and identity?

Should You Break with Fashion Rules?

Fashion styles should exclusively be picked for your tastes since you appear good in them and not because they are in style at the moment. Also always be mindful that if you cannot have on the in style fashion design since you find it absurd, you can always wear something classic as it is perpetually in style and it accommodates everybody without exception. If you do not recognize what colors to wear for a crucial fashion meeting, always stick with black and white as they are classic and constantly in style.

Tips For Petite Fashions

By Morgan Hamilton

In shopping and fashion nothing is what it seems. Some taller women having larger bone structures try to dress in such a way that they would appear smaller. Thin and slender women want to create the appearance of curves with their clothes, while curvier women put efforts into hiding their voluptuousness. These women who are considered "petite" will frequently attempt to wear clothes that would make them look taller.

There is one common misconception that "petite" means "small". The truth is that the term petite refers to height, not weight. Petite fashions come in sizes from O to plus-sized. Women who are shorter than 5'4 are considered petite no matter if she has a slender, average or plus-sized frame.

The conception that petite women are always "little" has caused frustration for the ladies when shopping. Women not taller than 5'5 have a difficult time finding petite fashions that are not high-wasted. Despite that, recently many designers started creating petite fashion lines offering new styles for the petite ladies. Now most of the designers offer petite fashions and they try to make them more classic and tailored, so petite women would wear clothes that accentuate the good sides of their body type.

Petite woman want to find the clothes that would accentuate their own style. Some fashions are designed in such a way that they make petite woman look taller by using horizontal as opposed to vertical lines. Monochromatic colour schemes are also a good idea.

When buying clothes a petite woman should avoid cuts, color schemes and prints that are made for taller women. Petite fashions often have higher wastes, shorter arms and legs and narrower shoulders. When print patters are used in petite fashions they tend to be smaller. This is how chunky appearance is avoided.

Petite women are advised to keep up to some simple style guidelines. According to fashion experts on petite fashions, women are not to wear shirt longer than mid-thigh and they should forget about drastic colour contrasts in blouses and trousers. As far as shoes are concerned, petite women are not advised to buy flat shoes or shoes with square toes. What is best for their feet is a pair of comfortable stylish shoes with gently pointed toe. Other things that should not be in a petite's woman wardrobe are ribbons and buckles.

Women's Business Fashion -7 Ways to Liven Up a Basic Black Wardrobe

By Lynda Goldman

Women, basic black is a wonderful start to your business wardrobe. Once you buy basic black pants, skirts and jackets, it simplifies your wardrobe. It doesn't require much thought to grab something from your wardrobe in the morning, and no one knows for sure if you are wearing the same items over and over again.

But when you want a bit of a lift, and want to avoid looking like you are headed to a funeral, you'll want to break up the monotony and add a spark of color to cheer you up.

Here are 7 ways to liven up your basic black professional wardrobe.

1. Add the panache of metallics, which are so big right now. Loop a chunky gold or silver chain around your neck, or slip a large bangle on your wrist.

2. Throw an animal print scarf around your neck, or buckle an animal-print belt around your waist.

3. Add a pop of color with a red or yellow patent handbag, or a patent belt.

4. Add a bit of texture, like a nubby wool sweater, or a great tweed jacket, to your basic black dress or sweater and pants.

5. Wear your favorite color shirt or sweater with your black jacket. A splash of red or pink under your jacket does wonders to liven up your complexion and make you glow.

6. Wear a choker of pearls or colored beads to add interest to a low neckline. Play with the color and design of chucky jewelry to add a unique accent to your outfit.

7. Test a color you wouldn't normally wear, in a small dose. Taxi yellow or lime green are fun to wear in limited doses.

Everyday Fashion Mistakes to Avoid

By Paul Jones

Everyone knows the fashion world is constantly changing and this can only mean that the list of fashion mistakes is constantly changing as well. If you are interested in avoiding fashion faux pas this year, check out this helpful checklist below to make sure you are wearing only the hottest styles and avoiding the styles that have died out.

Luckily, see-through tops and bottoms are definitely out for 2008. Although many people say that less is more, this style has quickly gone from stylish and sexy to tacky and distasteful in no time at all. If you have any see-through tops or bottoms in your wardrobe today, throw them out immediately!

Many people make this mistake and that is wearing jeans or bottoms of any kind that are far too tight creating a belly bulge that is unnecessary. Whether you are thin or bigger, wearing pants or bottoms that are too small for you is not stylish, it is one of the biggest fashion mistakes of the century. Accepting your own size and wearing what fits you properly is the style of 2008.

Do you find that your pants are so long that the hems are constantly getting stuck on the bottom of your shoes? There is nothing stylish about this; in fact you are simply ruining your pants. By having your pants hemmed properly you can still have the longer length but make sure they are not catching on your shoes and dragging needlessly on the ground.

Sweaters and layering is a very popular look this year but it can become tricky if you are trying to layer up and you have a small winter coat to squeeze all those layers into! Make sure your coat has wide enough arms to support your stylish layered look or you will find yourself quite uncomfortable.

Please don't wear tops that are stained with your underarm sweat. If you have a shirt that is stained, consider throwing it away or wearing it only for working around the house.

Panty lines have always been a major fashion blunder, and today they still are. Consider what your under garments look like and throw out the ones that have seen to many fashion eras!

If you choose to wear a slip under your dress or skirts, make sure you buy something of high quality so you never have to worry about your slip showing at any point during the evening.

Wearing white panty hose with a black pencil skirt is an obvious mistake! Always make sure that your panty hose match the hem of your skirt and your shoes to avoid this common fashion mistake.

If you color your hair, it is important to keep up with the treatments because showing your roots is also a very common fashion faux pas.

These are the top and most popular fashion mistakes that men and women experience on a daily basis. Even the most highly fashionable and stylish person can display a fashion blunder from time to time, its okay! It is important to be aware that although fashion is a large part of our society today, it is not the end of the world if you find yourself with your roots showing, a run in your panty hose that don't really match your outfit and a slip that just will not stay in place! Everyone has days like this, as long as you are aware of these problems you have the ability to correct them. It can be hard to keep up with today's fashions but the key is if you feel uncomfortable in your outfit, something is not right.

5 Fashion Crimes You May Be Committing

By Jennifer Wasilewski

Fashion is largely a personal adventure where the individual seeks to portray their personality through clothing and accessories. There is no clear cut right or wrong way to dress and no set of golden rules to guide our wardrobe choices. However, there are a few mistakes that we seem to make on a regular basis. Here are 5 fashion crimes you may be guilty of committing.

Dressing to Young for Your Age

While fashion isn't always age discriminate there are an abundance of trends that are aimed at the twenty to thirty something demographic. Women above that demographic often run the risk of dressing to young for their own good. While there is no need to fill your closet with elastic waist bands and goofy sweaters upon your thirtieth birthday, you should practice caution when it comes to trends. If you feel something may be too young for you, you're probably right. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to look young with out cashing in on every runway trend.

Buying Cheap to Save Money

We all like to save a little money when possible. Buying quality goods on clearance is a great way to do that. Unfortunately, buying clothing that is generally just cheaper isn't always the right way to go. More often than not, when it comes to clothing, you get what you pay for. Cheaper clothing often tears, rips, wears out, or doesn't make it through the washer. Replacing items that couldn't take the stress of daily life can end up costing you a lot more in the long run. If you are looking to purchase a clothing item you wear regularly, spend a little extra or wait for the higher quality items to go on sale.

Going to Extremes

Every now and then you want to change up your style and put a little excitement in your closet. It's great to try different things but do so slowly. Investing in the latest trends all at once will not only cost you major bucks but can look a little tacky if not ridiculous. Update your wardrobe in small doses. This will give you time to introduce new trends into your wardrobe and find out which ones work best for you.

Neglecting Your Style for the Latest Trend

Fashion is an expression of the self. You should choose clothing that suits your personality and way of life. That said, not every trend is meant for every woman. Don't wear something just because it is "in." Invest in clothing that makes you comfortable and brings out your personality. Buying clothing just because it's trendy isn't good for you or your wallet. You will either be uncomfortable while donning your new digs or they will remain unused collecting dust in your closet.

Getting into a Fashion Rut

It's okay to know you're own personal style and to buy your clothing accordingly. Unfortunately, many women fall victim to fashion monotony and never explore outside the realm of their own unchanging closet. Every now and then change things up a bit by adding a article of clothing you normally wouldn't buy. It doesn't have to be outlandish or ultra trendy, just a little bit different from the norm.

Designer Label Handbags vs. Designer Inspired and Fashion Handbags - What you Should Know

By Kamie Plys

Designer label handbags are just that, and they have some great styles this season, plus they also have the much coveted name and trademarked logos. Most of the designer handbags also have warranties on their products where they will fix any manufacturing defects or weaknesses for you should they occur. The designer bags however can carry a steep price tag that sets them out of reach for a lot of people.

Designer inspired and fashion handbags however, are more affordable. Designer inspired handbags are bags that have the same style as a designer label, but have enough noticeable differences to distinguish them from the designer handbag so as not to violate trademark or copyright laws. They also do not carry the designer name or logos anywhere on the bag. Fashion handbags are bags that come in many great styles, but are not styled after the designer labels.

When purchasing a designer label handbag, it's no secret that the higher price includes the name and logos. You should be sure that you get what you pay for. It is also no secret that the big designer names in handbag fashions do not wholesale their products to small independent retailers and limit the online sales of their products usually to their own website or to a large national retailer that is authorized to sell their products.

If you have to have the designer name and logo, be sure you are getting the real thing as that is what you are paying for. There are a lot of handbags out there being sold as designer label that are not. Let's say you pay $300 for a designer label handbag that is on the designers site for $900. If you did your homework and got the real McCoy, say gently used on eBay, you got a great deal, but if it turns out it's just a really good replica, you probably paid way too much for it.

If it's just the style of the handbag you like and you're not worried about the name on the bag, the designer inspired handbags and fashion handbags can give your look the same effect without breaking the bank. This is a great way to go if you like a particular look or style.

Designer inspired handbags and fashion handbags can come in varying qualities, so when purchasing them, check out the stores return policy. Stores that carry well made handbags, whether they are online or a brick and mortar store, should stand behind their products and offer some type of return policy.

Second Life Fashion Design Tips - Where To Get Started

By Alistair McMaster

Designing fashion for Second Life can be a daunting prospects. Lots of residents spend lots of lindens on Second Life clothes, and a sure way to make money is to do the same. The great thing about designing SL fashion is that you can sell the same item multiple times. In fact, you can sell it as many times as you want.

The only tough part is getting started. If you are not a programmer, designer or familiar with photo-editing, you aren't going to feel comfortable, and you won't know where to get started. But don't worry, we've come up with three easy steps you can take to start you on your way to becoming a true fashionista.

STEP 1: MASTER THE IN-GAME FASHION DESIGNER: The first step in becoming a fashion designer in SL is to get used to the in-game fashion designer. Open the appearance tool (either through the top-menu or by right-clicking on your avatar) and you can edit a multitude of different factors of your avatar's appearance. To change clothing, or design new ones, you'll need to get familiar with the texture and color menu's. Once you get comfortable with the in-game designer, you can move on to the next step.

STEP 2: GET PHOTO-EDITING: To move past the simple designs you can make through the appearance editor, you'll need to get some photo-editing software. Though many of these programs can run $300 or more, we've found an alternative that is just as good. If you want to start designing fashion seriously, you'll need The GIMP. (http://www.gimp.org/). This freeware is just as good as the commercial software out there, and there is a very active and helpful community of Gimp users that can help you. Download Gimp and learn how to use some of the features. After you do this, you are ready to move on

STEP 3: GET TEMPLATES: To use Gimp (or other photo-editing software) to design clothes for SL, you'll need some templates. A template is simply a 3-D rendering that can be laid over an avatar. With a template, you can design skins, tattoo's and clothes. To start off with, you should download Robin Wood's t-shirt template. (http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/SL-Tuts/SLTutSet.html) This will allow you to create your very first template design: a t-shirt. The template itself is very well done, and by using layers and masks, Robin Wood has created one of the best SL Fashion aides around. Use it.

Of course, there is a lot more to fashion design than what we've told you about. (We've created an excellent fashion design guide which you can find on our website. Just click on the link below.) You can spend a lot of time learning how to create fashions, but in the end, what you want is up to you. Designing clothes for SL residents is not difficult, but it does take knowledge and practice. If you can get as far as step three, you will be ahead of 90% of everyone else in the game.

Fashion Rules to Avoid Causing Career Suicide at Work

By Tl Kleban

As you sit in your office watching an endless stream of people walk by, do you ever wonder why no one stops and says hello? It's probably because of what you are wearing. I mean have you taken a good look at yourself lately? Your lack of fashion sense is offending the eyes of your colleagues and unknowingly to you endangering your career.

Most guys will never admit to this what they wear and how clean they look plays an important role in the love life, personal life and more importantly their career. What you have on can be quite influential in changing the opinions of others. Coworkers instantly get a first impression on you based on your physical appearance. Here are some fashion no-no's to avoid in the office at all times:

A battle of clashing colors - A multi-colored coat or dress shirt may fly for your wife or girlfriend but it is a big resounding negative for you to wear work. Men should stick to the rule of a three color maximum limit for each outfit they choose to wear. Be sure that those colors compliment each other as well. Don't wear a shirt of purple, black and orange unless your job is a rodeo clown. This rule also applies to your shoes. Work shoes should be black, brown and sometimes gray. Anything else is frowned upon.

Dirty and stained clothes - The last thing you want to is walk around the office giving orders only to find that you've been acting bossy with a huge red stain on your dress shirt. Any respect or authority you thought you had, went right out the window. Part of your everyday routine should to inspect your clothes before you wear them again. This should be as standard as brushing your teeth every morning. Another danger area is under the armpits which are vulnerable to those annoying yellow sweat stains. I try to keep a stain stick in my desk at all times.

Poor fitting pants - When shopping for pants, I try them on before I purchase them no matter what size they are. I'm found the hard way that different manufacturers cut their pants in different ways and in varying lengths. The rule to follow with jeans are to wear them down to the bottom of your heel while dress pants are worn to the top of your heel. Also watch the amount of sock that shows when you are walking. It should never be more than an inch or two.

Sloppy looking facial hair - If you're going to wear a beard or goatee, make sure it's well kept. Don't look sloppy or like you just woke up. You'll have a difficult time finding someone to take you seriously with a shaggy beard. They also make special hair trimmer designed specifically for those annoying nose and ear hairs too.

Way too much man-jewelry - When it comes to guys wearing jewelry, other than your wedding band nothing else should be worn than a nice watch. Chains, bracelets, rings and facial piercings should be saved for the club and not worn for work. Fashion Jewelry - What's Hot And What's Not This Year

By Victor Epand

You can come across the most stimulating designs and trends in jewelry in Europe. The unique and striking pieces of jewelry can be found in places like Greece, Italy, Spain or even Germany.

It is interesting to get into tiny goldsmith shops in foreign lands and see what all they have to offer. Goldsmiths from foreign countries exchange knowledge with one another. If you can get to the "mother lode" in Germany, you would be able to get your hands on the latest fashion trends and designs in gold and diamonds. Also, you would be able to come across amazing designs in silver and colored stones and colored gems.

You must have seen observed that the prices of precious metal such as platinum and gold have hit the highest point quite recently and Euro-silver jewelry is crafted in a better manner as compared to a majority of Mexican silver jewelry. It does not just last longer, but it is also available at a great price for all the people who are very conscious about the price of the jewelry.

The hottest fashion that is at present all round the global is the look of long earrings or chandeliers. The yester-years shoulder length earrings have come back into fashion and are available in the market. It does not matter if it is silver or gold, ancient or even the most recent design, everything is in vogue now.

Jewelry that contains diamonds or is without any diamonds or colored-stones creates an individual style statement. Two tone gold pieces i.e. yellow and white gold mixtures are extremely popular in Marco. The hottest trend at present includes pendants, bracelets, slides for omegas, and anklets. Blending in various colors of gold in this day and age is very trendy.

However, in the previous years this kind of combination was thought to be quite tacky. Platinum along with 18 karat yellow gold is fiery hot and can send your bank account up in flames. Platinum has hit its all time highest point at an average of $770 per ounce!

As a matter of fact at present long chains are not at all hot. Turquoise used to be extremely hot a year back, however, at present it is not. Plain colored stone rings are being sold once more. Tennis bracelets are as sturdy as ever. Besides, the three stone diamond pendants would be the flavor of the season yet another time in the approaching holidays. You would be surprised to know that the yester year fashion of gold coin jewelry has come into vogue again.

Trends change with the changing times, however excellent quality jewelry holds goods through the trial of time. Even though a trendy jewelry fashion goes away for a phase, it in no way falls short of returning once again, and when it does, you would already have a piece of jewelry that is in vogue. A lot of jewelry fashion begins within the elite and glamorous circuit. Keeping an eye on the jewelry that celebrities flaunt allows you to stay in touch with the hottest and latest fashion.

Ladies Purses and Handbags - Make A Fashion Statement

By Jayson Pablo

A range of stylish ladies purses and handbags are available in markets across the UK and other countries of the world. A purse or a handbag is an important item that ladies would always like to keep with them. Given below is a brief description of the historical development of ladies purses and men wallets around the world over.

A purse is defined as a small money container that is typically used by women and includes a compartment for keeping money. A purse is often fashionably designed and is used to hold a number of items like hairbrush, keys, cellular phones and other makeup related items. The word purse was originally derived from the Latin word "bursa" which means ox hide.

Ladies purses and men wallets have taken on many looks over a period of time. Early Egyptians used to wear pouches that were worn around the waist. During early 14th century, only women used to have purses that were attached to their girdle. Men started keeping wallets by the middle of 15 century in many parts of Europe. These purses and handbags were typically ornamented or embroidered with gold. It was customary for men then to present their new brides with a purse that had an illustration of a love story embroidered on it. In Africa, wizards used to carry unadorned bags in which they would keep a powder that was used to interact with the supernaturals.

People started calling their hand-held bags as handbags by the start of twentieth century. During 1920s, purses were made that had complicated fasteners, internal compartment and locks. It was then common for women to carry a doll dressed exactly like them as a handbag. The new fashion of upper class women also changed during the period. Women started carrying purses that did not match with their outfits. During World War II, women purses were made of wool as metal was saved for War supplies by the governments of the day.

Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hermes are the leading manufactures of [http://www.rupizcompare.co.uk/clothing-and-accessories/handbags-and-wallets.aspx ]ladies purses and men wallets around the world. A number of variations of the purses are also available in the markets around the world. Some of the popular variations of purses include totes, pocketbooks, security bags and coin purses. A large variety of handbags are also available in markets across the UK these days. Some of the highly popular varieties of handbags include satchels, duffels, clutches and hip purses.

Fashion -- Latest Trends Influenced by Celebrities, But Make It Your Own

By Janice Karp

Is fashion influenced by Hollywood? When we see a popular celebrity wearing an amazing outfit, is it the latest trend? The editors of fashion magazines may think using famous people will influence "what's hot and what's not." But what's HOT on a model may be a NOT on many people!

I think there are many factors that sway us in certain directions when we go shopping. Ethnicity may be an influence. In certain cultures you have to dress a certain way. Showing a lot of leg may not be appropriate. Obviously how you are built is going to affect what type of clothes you buy. What a celebrity wears and looks incredible in may look unflattering on you. Money is a monumental influence when buying clothes. Most of us don't make millions a year and therefore can't afford to shop in the boutiques or stores our favorite actresses or actors frequent.

Even if we like what the hottest stars are wearing, why would we want to copy them. The marvelous, fun part of shopping is the statement we make when we put an outfit together. It doesn't have to be a loud statement; just a subtle one that shows our individuality. If we dress just like Lindsey Lohan or Ashley Olsen we still won't resemble them. When you see your favorite star on the cover of a magazine, it's enticing you to buy that particular issue, which is exactly what the company wants you to do. Inside will most likely be a fashion spread featuring what the "It Girls" are wearing. In my opinion, use it as a guide and then tweak it with your own personality.

I like to be fashionable, comfortable, and not spend an absurd amount of money. There are many stores that sell the latest in stylish clothing for a very reasonable price. Old Navy, The Gap and The Loft are some. You can buy jeans, T's, clothes for the office and still have money left over for shoes.

I enjoy the magazine ads and TV commercials that feature beautiful celebrities. Maybe on occasion I will be influenced to buy a bracelet I see. But as far as clothes, I think I'll stick with what looks good on me. Maybe my low-rise jeans with the stitching on the back pockets and weathered longer length t-shirt with flip-flops to match, will influence someone's fashion style.

First Date Fashion - Dressing for the Occasion

By Jennifer Wasilewski

Whether you’ve been single for awhile or just getting back into the game, a first date is exciting. While you may be anxiously awaiting your night out, you may be getting a little nervous as well. One of the biggest issues for a first day is deciding what to wear. Often times you start planning an outfit days in advance only to find that that you hate what you picked out. If spending hours in front of the mirror deciding between a skirt and pants, heels and flats, and black and blue, is not your idea of a good time, you’re not alone. Here are some tips to help you decide how to dress as well as how to do your hair and makeup for different types of dates.

What to Wear:

Daytime Date: If you’re going to be going on a day time date, consider wearing something a little more casual. Often times day time dates are meant to ease the nerves and hang out without the possibility of commitment looming over your head. Choose something that’s fun and slightly flirty, but remember to stay practical.

Out Door Dates: Going on a date that takes place outside or involves a lot of walking means you’ll need to dress appropriately. Even though you may love your brand new ruby red heels, you may want to save them for a dinner date. Wear flats that won’t get stuck in the grass and will keep your feet comfy when walking long distances.

Casual Nighttime Dates: Casual dinner and a movie dates generally call for something a little dressier than your day time attire; however, they don’t require your little black dress. Choose a pair of dress pants or a skirt and heels with a fun and flirty shirt. If you want to wear jeans, stay away from ones that are ripped or faded and opt for a darker color designer jean.

Elegant Evening Dates: Sometimes men feel it necessary to pull all the stops and take you to a fancy restaurant on your first date. If this is the case, clearly your possible new beau wants to impress you, so humor and respect him by dressing for the occasion. This is when you pull out the little black dress or a colorful equivalent and a pair of great heels. Don’t disappoint him when he picks you up by wearing jeans, even if they are really sexy.

Hair

Daytime Dates: For a casual day date, you can basically wear your hair any way you feel comfortable. If you want to dress it up a bit, try adding a cute head band or scarf that matches your outfit. Regardless of where you’re going, make sure your hair it neat and clean. You may not want to act like your desperate, but doesn’t look like you’re not trying at all.

Out Door Dates: If you will be outside for the majority of your date or if you’ll be walking to and from different places, you may want to consider pulling your hair back. This will save you the awkward embarrassment of having your perfect hair-do turn into a hair disaster because of wind, a game of soccer, of an unfortunate rain storm. Again, accessorizing your hair is a great way to turn an everyday pony tail into a cute date appropriate up do.

Casual Nighttime Dates: Casual dinner and movie dates are a great opportunity to wear your hair down and take some more time in deciding how to style it. Chances are you won’t be outdoors for long, and you won’t be taking part in physically taxing activities (at least not early in the night!). If you look great with your hair down and curly or have short hair that looks great in sassy, spiky styles, go for it. The goal is to be comfortable yet polished.

Elegant Evening Dates: If you will be dining at an elegant restaurant definitely put some time and effort into your hair. This is when you’ll want to ensure that every piece is in its right place. Often times an up-do is a great way to keep control of your hair while looking stylish and sophisticated. You’ll want to keep your accessories to a minimum. Instead of that cute scarf that you like so much, try going with small decorative barrettes to add a little refined dimension.

Makeup

Daytime Dates: Keep your makeup to a minimum. Unless you always wear a ton of makeup, don’t overdo it for a day date where you’re most likely going to be in brightly lit places. Save the smoky eyes and blood red lipstick for a special night time occasion.

Out Door Dates: Keep in mind that outdoor dates may be more physically taxing. Going for a walk; running around, or being out in the elements can easily turn pretty eyelashes into embarrassing black streaks running down your cheeks. Choose makeup that will stay on and won’t smudge. Again, you’ll want to stay away from tons of eye makeup and bold lip sticks. The goal here is to go for look playful not like a diva.

Casual Nighttime Dates: When applying your makeup, you can be more liberal for evening dates than you are for daytime engagements. This means you can break out the eye liner and go a little darker with your lipstick and eye shadow. Even though you’re going out during the evening, don’t overdo it.

Elegant Evening Dates: While you should pay particular attention to your makeup, you still want to keep in mind that less often more. You may not want to go overboard if you’re going to a classy dining establishment. Often times men enjoy woman who keep their makeup natural and most men will appreciate this if they are taking you somewhere where sophistication is the key. Subtle eye shadows and lip glosses with a bit a shimmer are a great option for elegant dining.
